Astrology is one of several entries from the stables of Aidan O'Brien for this year's Epsom Derby and the bookies fancy his chances of challenging the Ballydoyle trainer's leading hope - Camelot. Astrology opened up his campaign as a 2-year-old with victory at Leopardstown last year but disappointed when well fancied in two subsequent outings in group company. The Galileo colt has risen to prominence with victory in the Dee Stakes this year though.
Aidan O'Brien again goes mob-handed for the Derby as he continues his search for a first winner since High Chaparral in 2002. O'Brien has since saddled 39 runners in the Classic on the Epsom Downs without success but he will have high hopes for his Dee Stakes winner Astrology.
Astrology rose to prominence in the Epsom Derby betting with a resounding 11-length victory in the Dee Stakes at the Chester May meeting. The race has proven to be a useful Derby trial in the past, with Kris Kin winning both races in 2003. Astrology will attempt to emulate that feat after his success on soft ground, albeit against just three other runners, and O'Brien expects him to improve for better ground at Epsom.

VERDICT: Dee Stakes winner is seen as a genuine threat to his stablemate Camelot but will need to improve on his previous efforts on better ground.
