At First Sight
Yet another trained by Aidan O’Brien for Ballydoyle, At First Sight is likely to be used as a pacemaker for one of the more fancied runners from the stable, which is why he only has odds of around 100/1 to win the Derby.
It is not unusual for the Ballydoyle yard to use pacemakers, which although they have little chance of winning themselves, they are capable of creating a false result or even upsetting one of the others in the field.
He was used by the stable to pace make for Midas Touch in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial in May and he did a very good job. He led until the final furlong before Midas Touch nabbed him before going on to win by 6 lengths with At First Sight finishing a tired 3rd.
