The Sandown Bet365 Classic Derby Trial
Run at Sandown Park at the end of April each year, this race is a Group 3 run over 10 furlongs, which has not produced too many Epsom Derby winners for some time, although the runner up in 1997, Benny The Dip went on to win at Epsom six weeks later. The last dual winner was in fact Shahrastani, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, who won this race in 1986 before going on to win both the Epsom and Irish Derby. The race is sponsored by Bet365.
