Run at Sandown Park at the end of April each year, this race is a Group 3 run over 10 furlongs, which has not produced too many Epsom Derby winners for some time, although the runner up in 1997, Benny The Dip went on to win at Epsom six weeks later. The last dual winner was in fact Shahrastani, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, who won this race in 1986 before going on to win both the Epsom and Irish Derby’s. The race is sponsored by Bet365.

There hasn't been a winner of this race to go on and and score at Epsom since 1986 but the bookmakers were suitably impressed by the winner here as Imperial Monarch was clipped in the ante-post betting for the Derby following a good win on testing ground.
