Trained by Henry Cecil, Bullet Train looked a very impressive winner of the Lingfield Derby Trial over 1 mile and 3 furlongs, on the 8th May, winning by 3 lengths, and looking every inch a Derby type horse. A Sadlers Wells colt, owned by Khalid Abdullah, Bullet Train could provide the Cecil/Abdullah partnership their first Epsom Derby winner since Commander In Chief succeeded in 1993.
Before his Lingfield victory, the colt had run solidly to finish second in a conditions race in April, which clearly put him spot on for the Trial. Cecil believes he will improve again before Epsom where he could now prove to the main obstacle in preventing an Aidan O’Brien success in the race.
The colt should be ridden by the upcoming jockey, Tom Queally and should start the race at around 7/1 mark.
