Michael Bell who trained Motivator to Derby victory in 2005, believes that his Coordinated Cut offers punters a genuine place chance in this year’s Epsom Derby, particularly as he will improve significantly since his last run.
That last run came in the Dante Stakes at York a month ago where Coordinated Cut finished four lengths behind in 3rd place behind Cape Blanco. He led that race until the final couple of furlongs but could find no extra at the end, but Bell is convinced he needed the run that day and he has no doubt about his ability to stay the trip.
Before the Dante the colt ran a blinder to win the Tattershall Timeform 3-y-o Trophy at Newmarket in April over 1 mile and 2 furlongs. He proved that he has plenty of courage when winning that race and that he had grown up significantly over the winter period. He certainly comes to Epsom with genuine Each Way claims and will be ridden by former champion jockey, Jamie Spencer.
