Dawn Approach Betting
Dawn Approach trained by Jom Bolger is the short price favourite for this year's Epsom Derby on Saturday 1st June. The colt is by 2007 Derby winner New Approach and has been heavily backed since his win in the 2000 Guineas at the beginning of May. The horse was acquired by Godolphin when he was a two year old in August of 2012 following four straight juvenile wins. The colt remains unbeaten in seven starts and stable jockey Kevin Manning is likely to retain the mount despite Godolphin now owning the horse.
After winning his Maiden over five fulrongs at the Curragh he stepped up to six furlongs winning his next three starts including a Listed contest at Naas before landing the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. The colt then stepped up to seven furlongs with no problems winning the Group 1 Vincent O'Brien Stakes at the Curragh before impressing when landing the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket last October in fine style. He continues the upgrade when winning the 2000 Guineas by five lengths on his one start this season since when his price has crashed for the Derby.

VERDICT: Unbeaten and impressive when landing the 2000 Guineas on only start this season. Bred to get a mile and a half and good on any ground. Officially rated the best horse in the race and defintely looks the one to beat here.
