Elm Park Betting

Elm Park is a leading contender for the 2015 Epsom Derby, as the Andrew Balding-trained raider is aiming to build on a fine juvenile campaign, which saw him land the Racing Post Trophy, and having finished third in the Dante Stakes will now be aiming to sparkle in the 1m 4f Classic on June 6.

Season Form:

  • 14th May 2015 - York - Dante Stakes (Group 2) - 1m 2f - 3rd

Elm Park was one of the star two-year-olds of last season as Andrew Balding's charge stormed to victory in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster at the end of the campaign, as he added that to a CV that already consisted of a fine win in the Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket.

He kicked off his campaign with a trip to York for the Dante Stakes, which is one of the premier Investec Derby trials of the season and taking on the classy John Gosden-trained duo of Golden Horn and Jack Hobbs, Balding's son of Phoenix Reach could only finish third on the Knavesmire.

He was up against a race-fit duo in that Group 2 contest and is likely to enjoy stepping up to the 1m 4f distance of the Derby, so if he takes his chance in the Classic then has to be a major player in what is a wide open running of the Epsom showpiece on June 6.

VERDICT: A fine winner of the Racing Post Trophy last season, Andrew Balding's Elm Park put up a creditable effort when third in the Dante Stakes at York, but whilst he has form to find with Golden Horn on that Group 2 race he should improve on his second start of the season.

Bet on Elm Park for the 2015 Epsom Derby.
