This John Dunlop trained 3 year old, was rated second to St Nicholas Abbey last season after being beaten by him by 3¾ lengths in the Group 1, Racing Post Chase last October.
However, he has clearly improved through the winter, and looked very impressive when winning the 2000 Guineas/Derby Trial, the Craven Stakes at Newmarket in April. He won that race with considerable ease and in a manner which suggested that he will get the Derby trip of 1½ miles. Indeed the Bookmakers were very impressed and installed him as second favourite for the Epsom Derby with odds of around the 5/1 mark.
He has still yet to run in the 2000 Guineas, but should he acquit himself well in that race then he will be cut even shorter for the Derby.
