Festive Cheer Betting
Festive Cheer is one of five entries for Aiden O'Brien in this year's Epsom Derby on Saturday 1st June. The colt is by Montjeu so stamina should not be a problem, but it's questionable as to whether he may be used to force the pace at Epsom. The Ballydoyle based trainer is looking for his f4th Derby success after previously winning the race with Galileo, High Chaparral and last year with Camelot. Seamie Heffernan has been confirmed as taking the ride.
Festive Cheer has run three times, winning his Maiden on his second start at Dundalk on the all-weather last August over seven furlongs. On his only appearance this season he carded a respectable third place finish in a Group 2 contest at Longchamp in May. That form looks decent enough with the horse he was beaten a shoulder by having earlier in the season finished second to Ocovango who is a fifth of the price for the Derby.

VERDICT: Festive Cheer is fourth string from the Ballydoyle quintet and could be used as a pacemaker. Some decent form based on his last run and certainly value each-way at 50/1 which looks too big.
