Golden Horn Betting

Golden Horn is the favourite for the 2015 Epsom Derby, as having stormed to victory over stablemate Jack Hobbs in the Dante Stakes at York, the John Gosden-trained raider will try to emulate that fine success on the Knavesmire by storming to victory in the coveted Classic on June 6.

Season Form:

  • 14th May 2015 - York - Dante Stakes (Group 2) - 1m 2f - 1st
  • 15th April 2015 - Newmarket - Feilden Stakes (Listed) - 1m 1f - 1st

Golden Horn kicked off his 2015 campaign with a taking victory in the Listed Feilden Stakes at Newmarket in April, as he stormed one-and-a-half lengths clear of Peacock at Flat Headquarters and following that victory he was pencilled in for a trip to the French Derby later in the season.

However, John Gosden's unbeaten colt was next handed the premier Investec Derby trial, the Dante Stakes, as his next assignment and the son of Cape Cross produced a sparkling effort to bag victory over stablemate Jack Hobbs and was instantly touted as a real contender for the Epsom Classic on June 6.

He travelled like a dream into the 1m 2f contest and then quickened by Jack Hobbs and Elm Park in blistering fashion, and he is now set to be supplemented at a huge cost of £75,000 and is set to try and sparkle over 1m 4f for what will be a wide open renewal of the elite Flat race in UK racing.

VERDICT: A sparkling winner of the Dante Stakes at York, Golden Horn has to be the one to beat in the Epsom Derby if he replicating that performance, and if the step up to 1m 4f doesn't stretch him then he is one of the class acts lining up in a wide open renewal on June 6.
