Hot Prospect, trained by Michael Jarvis is one of the outsiders to win the Derby this year. On paper he has it all to find with both Bullet Train and Coordinated Cut, who both beat him comfortably in earlier races this season. Bullet Train beat him by 3¾ lengths in the Lingfield Derby Trial in May over 1m4f, while Coordinated Cut beat him by over 6 lengths in the Tattershall Timeform 3-y-o Trophy at Newmarket in April.
Jarvis admits that he is an unlikely winner, but that he does have some improvement left in him and could run a big race at a big price. He will be ridden by experienced jockey, Phillip Robinson.and is currently around the 66/1 mark in the betting.
