Imperial Monarch Betting
Imperial Monarch is one of the leading fancies from the stable of Aidan O'Brien for this year's Epsom Derby. The son of Galileo, the 2011 Epsom Derby winner, boasts excellent pedigree and heads to Epsom with an unbeaten record. The colt won on his first start as a 2-year-old when scoring by three and a half lengths from Azamata over a mile at the Curragh in September.
Imperial Monarch certainly has plenty in his favour as the son of former Epsom Derby winner Galileo. Furthermore, his trainer Aidan O'Brien is one of the most prolific trainers in British and Irish racing, although he is searching for his first Derby winner since landing the Classic with High Chaparral in 2002.
The 3-year-old made a winning reappearance as a 3-year-old this season as Imperial Monarch won the Bet 365 Classic Trial at Sandown in April. He beat fellow Derby hopeful Thought Worthy by a length and three quarters, although the last runner from the Sandown trial to win the Derby was Benny the Dip back in 1997.

VERDICT: The Bet 365 Classic Trial winner has plenty in his favour as the son of the great Galileo, although it's 15 years since a runner from the Sandown trial race won the Derby.
