Libertarian is one of the each-way chances for this year's Epsom Derby on Saturday 1st June. The colt is by 2007 winner New Approach like the favourite Dawn Approach and was well backed for victory here following his impressive win in the Dante Stakes at York last time out. William Buick once again takes the ride.
The three year old had his first ever race this season when winning his Maiden at Pontefract in April. He followed that up by finishing fourth in the Bet365 Classic Trial at Sandown a few weeks later over a mile and a quarter but bounced back in style when landing the Dante Stakes at York by one and a quarter lengths at massive odds of 33/1. He returned with a cough in that Sandown defeat and was back to his best when surprising the field in the Group 2 at York. His stamina served him well that day burning off many Derby hopefuls in the process and the step up in trip to a mile and a half should suit.

VERDICT: Stamina to burn if he takes to Epsom he looks a solid each-way chance at the prices. Would be shorter if from a more fashionable yard.
