Mars is one of the entries of Aiden O'Brien in this year's Epsom Derby on Saturday 1st June. The colt is by Galileo has run just twice and was a little disappointing when finishing 6th in the 2000 Guineas last time out. The Ballydoyle based trainer is looking for his fourth Derby success after previously winning the race with Galileo (2001), High Chaparral (2002) and last year with Camelot.
Mars won his only start as a two year old way back in July 0f 2012, winning his Maiden by four and three quarter lengths over seven furlongs on the all-weather surface at Dundalk. On his only start since, the three year old was sent off a 9/1 chance in the 2000 Guineas where he could only finish sixth. He was the shortest price of Ballydoyle's three runners that day but never looked comfortable until he started to pass horses at the finish. A step up in trip to a mile and a half could be the making of him.

VERDICT: Aiden O'Brien third string, shaped as though he'll appreciate a step up in trip here but over eight lengths to find on Dawn Approach from 2000 Guineas form.
