Sir Michael Stoute
One of the great trainers of our time, Sir Michael Stoute has trained four Epsom Derby winners, including the great Shergar, who of course was tragically stolen and later killed under very mysterious circumstances a little while after he won the race in 1981.
Sir Michael has also won with Sharastani in 1986, Kris Kin in 2003 and North Light in 2004, the latter two were both ridden by Kieren Fallon.
The Stoute yard has little to prove to anyone these days, they have won every principle race in either the UK or Ireland and about the only trophy missing from the cabinet is the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, which he still has high hopes of winning.
Sir Michael has saddled the winners of 15 Classics in the UK and a further 11 in Ireland.
