Mickdaam is the sole entry of trainer Richard Fahey at this year's Epsom Derby and he certainly has plenty of racing behind him. The son of Dubawi raced three times as a 2-year-old before gaining a first win on his third and final start at Newmarket. Fahey's colt has since spent the spring at Meydan and is priced at about 33/1 by most bookmakers.
Richard Fahey will enter his first ever Epsom Derby runner this year and he has given Mickdaam plenty of race time in the build-up to this season's renewal. The 3-year-old spent the spring racing in Dubai with mixed results, finishing second in a Group Three, winning a listed race and taking fourth in the UAE Derby.
Mickdaam made his return to Britain as a 3-year-old by finishing a narrow runner-up to Rougemont in the Tattersall's 3-year-old Trophy at Newmarket. The son of Dubawi has since improved on that by winning the Group Three Chester Vase by a nose from Model Pupil in May. The Chester Vase is a trial for the Derby, although the last runner from that race to go on to win the Derby was Quest For Fame in 1990.

VERDICT: Mickdaam will bid to become the first runner from the Chester Vase to win the Derby since Quest For Fame in 1990 and will no doubt attract some each-way backing.
