Minimise Risk Betting
Minimise Risk is one of two entries for Andrew Balding at the 2012 Epsom Derby as he joins stablemate and the bookies' second favourite Bonfire in the field. Minimise Risk though is the big outsider in the betting as the Galileo Colt, who was unraced as a 2-year-old, has struggled to make an impression.
Andrew Balding will hope Minimise Risk can make an impression in the Blue Riband event on the Downs though as he bids to emulate his father Ian, who trained Mill Reef to victory 41 years ago. However, Balding could opt to use Minimise Risk as a pacesetter for his Dante Stakes winner Bonfire.
Minimise Risk made his first career appearance in March, finishing second in a Doncaster maiden, before landing his first win on soft ground at Newbury. The 3-year-old has since appeared in the Chester Vase, a decent trial race for the Derby, but was well beaten by Mickdaam when last of five.

VERDICT: Big outsider in the betting and this looks a big step up in standard, particularly after his disappointing effort on his first start in group company in the Chester Vase.
