Parish Hall Betting
Parish Hall is one of the leading fancies for the Epsom Derby this year and is one of several Irish contenders. The son of Teofilo raced five times as a 2-year-old last season, winning on debut at Leopardstown before finishing second at the same course in July. Since then he struggled over six furlongs in the Phoenix Stakes and was then second in a Group Two at the Curragh. The colt's most impressive win came on his last start as a 2-year-old though as he won the Group One Dewhurst Stakes by half a length from Power at Newmarket in October.
Jim Bolger, the trainer of Parish Hall, has won the Epsom Derby before as he took the spoils with New Approach in 2008. The Irish trainer is taking the same route to Epsom with Parish Hall as he did with New Approach, with his colt set to go for the Irish 2,000 Guineas prior to the Derby.
Parish Hall has yet to race as a 3-year-old but is set to make his reappearance in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh - just a week before the Derby Classic.

VERDICT: The Dewhurst Stakes hero is a leading fancy for Jim Bolger but the colt faces a quick turnaround between his Irish 2,000 Guineas run and the Epsom Derby.
