Nice but somewhat green winner of his maiden as a juvenile, this Sir Michael Stoute trained colt has had just the one run as a three year old where he managed second place behind Cape Blanco in the Dante Stakes on 13th May at York. It has to be said that he ran very green in that race too and that he may not have matured in time for the Derby.
Nonetheless, he clearly has ability and has not lost the trust of his very perceptive connections who believe he will improve significantly in time for the Epsom Derby.
His disappointing run in the Dante had prompted the bookmakers to push him out to around the 14/1 mark but with St Nicholas Abbey now not running and question marks over Cape Blanco's participation Workforce has been slashed to 5/1 second favourite for the race where, Jan Vermeer remains favourite.
