The most popular bet on the Derby is the win market, which is where punters simply place a bet on which horse they think will win the race. Depending on the punter this is usually anything from £1 to large four figure and upwards bets from the big hitters! Whatever your stake, be sure to check out the free bets we have on offer.
Each way betting is also popular which is where you place a win and place bet by backing the horse to finish in the top three. If your selection wins you get paid out on the win bet and the place bet but if your horse finishes second or third, you still get paid out at 1/4 of the odds (1,2,3).
Different types of Derby Bets
There are any number of ways to get involved with having a Derby bet, whether it be the distance of the winner, will the winner be trained by an English or Irish trainer. You can also have a bet on the tote which is not a fixed odds but you get paid if you win based on the overall pool and the amount of money placed on the horse that wins, there are interesting Tote Pool bets to consider including exacta and trifecta.
Many of the online bookmakers will also be offer money back specials for this race, an example of such offers is should your horse come second to the favourite you will get your stake back and we will be highlighting some of these offers on our main betting directory site.
